Old before our time

So we have a small confession to make. We seem to have skipped the first 30/40 odd years of marriage and have skipped straight to retirement...We have been National Trust members since July and are unashamed lovers of it!!!!

We have paid our small annual fee and since that time have more than got our moneys worth!!! Whether it sunshine (rarely so...come on now...it's Britain) or rain, if we have a free day, out comes our little book and we select somewhere on the map we haven't been and off we go....for freeeeeeeeeee!!!

What's more, we have found ourselves in the following old couple pattern:-
Stage 1- looking at the map of the UK, pinpointing somewhere we haven't been before (which unfortunately is most of the UK)
Stage 2- we book a cheap hotel room
Stage 3- whip out the National Trust map and pick out the places of interest we are going to exploit for free entry
Stage 4- pack our funky little picnic cool bag (possibly one of the most exciting purchases of the year so far next to Tallulah...I'm sad I know) ]
Stage 5- Turn up, gloat to ourselves and feel good when we add up how much we have saved on entrance fees and snap away with the camera :D

You will be forgiven for thinking that you were reading the pattern of an old married couple, but what can we say...we are suckers for cheap (free) entertainment and travelling. hehe x

Newest Family Member

It was sadly time to say farewell to Delilah, my old car, and to put her into retirement. She served me well throughout my time at uni where we had a lot of fun together, and has also served Jason well for 8 months. However, it was time to reward her good service and send her to the car retirement home where all old cars go and have hot chocolate with marshmallows. We love you Delilah!!!!
Enter in our newest family member....meet Tallulah! She is very nippy and just LOVE LOVE LOVES the environment being all eco friendly. I've got to say as much as I loved Delilah, it is AMAZING to drive without feeling like you are driving a tank and having your shoulders ripped out of place due to lack of powered steering. Tallulah blesses us with pain free driving and a smooth quiet drive without the worry of whether we will actually reach our destination or not!

We are so blessed and are very thankful for our new little Tallulah!

Birthday Antics in London

Well here we are for another little update....an update with no snow around much to my sadness as I so want to build a nice big snowman.
Anyway, for Jason's birthday I treated him to a weekend away in London including tickets to see Disney's Lion King in the West End. We had soooo much fun!
The Lion King was AMAZING!!! Much better than I thought it ever would be! The stage mechanics were out of this world! Most definitely one to watch if you ever get the chance :o)

We spent the rest of the time having a wander around places we haven't discovered before and finding some lovely hidden gems! I don't think we've walked so much in a long time. I felt like my legs were gonna drop off by Saturday night! Luckily they didn't.

The day after I got back I had a job interview at work to make my temporary promotion permanent...and I've got it!!! as of Monday I am officially an Intelligence Researcher!!! I'm so happy and especially so as I haven't even been there a year yet and I've been successfully promoted...eeeeeeek!!!

Jason is busy busy coming to an end to his uni days...just a few more months and I'll have my husband back :o) yay

Well that's or little update for now. Ciao!

Frosty the snowman!

Well, we have had a constant flurry of snow here in Kinouchiville, so we decided to go and make our very own and first snowman together. Off we trooped to find some fresh untouched snow...we had to walk a little way as people had pinched the good snow or trampled all over it!!! Shocking I know! Well we eventually found a cute little off shoot overlooking the canal by the bridge so we set to work...to find it was like powder!!! Try making a ball out of talcum powder and you get the idea!!! Were we perturbed....NAY!!! Were we going to beaten...NAY!!! So Jason mustered all of genius matter and figured if he walked like a penguin making a plough out of his feet we could gather the snow....so Jason penguin walked and I began building :o)

4 frozen feet and 2 ice knees later we had our very own snowman...

He may not be conventional...but we love him all the same :o)

New Year, New Blog!

It's that time of year when we tend to make resolutions so here are the fruits of one of ours. I thought I'd try and get into this blogging again so that we can try and keep in touch with you all better. I'm very new to this and I'm sure it's not going to be anywhere near as swanky as yours Petra...but I'll give it a go....who knows this time next year I may well be a blogging queen!!! Jason already has his own blog for his design profile, so he is all up there with jargon...so hopefully I'll follow along soon :o) but with more prettiness of course :o) so happy new year!!!

To start off I've got to say how funny we find that as soon the UK gets a little bit of snow people are in chaos lol. I waited over an hour for my bus to work this morning until I gave up after hearing the bridge out of my town was blocked due to a jack-knifed lorry...unexpected annual leave day for me....however did I moan...oooooooh no...I PLAYED!!! I grabbed Jason...much to his enthusiasm (not)...and dragged him outside to the snow :o) I can't help it...I'm a big kid! The snowflakes were as big as cotton wool balls!!! So after playing about (and me jumping onto the ground to make a snow angel) we trotted back inside. LOVED IT!!!

Oh I should mention, there is only a it of decking outside of our apartment overlooking the canal...but that's all the area I have to play in so I took it :o) I do wonder what the lady watching us was thinking ;o)

Well, I hope you guys are having as much fun in the snow as we are...well... I am. I bet you guys in America have far more and far better snow but hey ho!

Huge hugs,
Cheryl and Jason x
